Steinhafels has a rich and storied history. Beginning in 1934 when Arthur Mueller and John E. Steinhafel determined to make a go of their furniture on North Teutonia Avenue in Milwaukee in the face of The Great Depression. Following World War Two, the second generation of Steinhafels officially joined the business. In 1959 the company relocated to the old Capitol Drive location. They’ve expanded to the south side of Milwaukee, west to Madison, north to the Fox Valley, and south to the Chicagoland markets. One of the most exciting business ventures was the successful launch of their own factory-direct mattress line, Dreams.
Today, the 4th generation of Steinhafels is showing no signs of slowing down. They continue to grow bringing new jobs to the region while keeping their family values intact. They have numerous community partnerships. Year after year, Steinhafels is named a Journal Sentinel “Top Workplace”. Steinhafels’ in-house health and wellness program for their employees ranks right alongside The Starr Group’s own award-winning wellness program.
