Wild Winter-like Weather Doesn’t Deter 2021 Spring Sporting Clay Invitational
The wild Wisconsin weather didn’t disappoint on Wednesday April 21, 2021. The morning saw sporadic snow showers — complete with blinding blizzards and traffic pile ups — that cast doubt on whether the Sporting Clays Spring Invitational 2021 would go forward. Event coordinators Eric Messer and Paul Kraemer – both of the Commercial Insurance department made the trek to Waukesha Gun Club to prepare to receive guests to the Invitational. Cheryl Michalek, Director of Marketing at The Starr Group was also on hand to greet shooters at Sign In, take pictures, set up food tables and help calculate final scoring. Nine teams of 5 were expected to participate.
The snow let up before the Tournament began. Only a few flakes fell as the first shots rang out from the shooters stands. Representatives from area construction, manufacturing and real estate businesses were invited to the 8-Station Clay Shoot at Waukesha Gun Club. As the afternoon progressed, the sun came out and warmed a total of seven groups of shooters — ranging in experience from Gun Owners to First Timers.
With a score of 46/50, the Tournament was won by Joel Parson of Price Erecting.
Following the Tournament, participants enjoyed Prime Rib Sliders, Chicken Wings and Cheese Curds from Point Burger Bar. Dinner was sponsored by The Blue Book Building and Construction Network. The event was sponsored in part West Bend Mutual Insurance. Price Erecting Company sponsored the ammunition for the day. Camouflage caps with The Starr Group logo on them were sponsored in part by Complex Solutions.
The next shotgun invitational will be held in October.
