On September 11, The Starr Group team once again laced their walking shoes to participate in the 2021 American Heart Association Milwaukee Heart Walk. This time the cause was close to home and dear to our hearts. The Team sported shirts that were specially designed to honor our dear friend and colleague Ryan Jones, CIC who we lost unexpectedly last November to an undetected heart issue. The shirts showed Ryan’s infectious smile in the colors of his beloved Carolina Panthers.
We could feel Ryan’s spirit with us as Team Captain Mary Starr led us in a moment of silence to remember his eternal optimism, strong faith and love of family. Ryan will live on in the hearts of all of us who were blessed to know him.
The Starr Group’s team goal was to raise $10,000 for research and awareness of heart disease and stroke prevention. We were just 74% of our goal 1 week before the event, when a last minute team member came aboard.
Shout out to our Director of Marketing, Cheryl Michalek. Her goal was to raise at least $250, however her personal and professional contacts, along with Ryan’s former clients rallied to push that goal over 10x that. With the $2533 that she raised the Team surpassed its goal to a total of $11,274.50. That also put The Starr Group in the Top 10 fundraisers for the 2021 AHA Heart Walk.We cannot thank our customers enough for their generosity!
Many team members were unable to walk with us that morning, however those in attendance were: Kelly Daigle, Tim Starr, Cheryl Michalek, Maureen Brennan; Kristi Erdman, Joe Somogyi, CEBS,CLU, Mary Kurth, CIC, Mary Starr, Alex Jagielski and Terry Weinecke. They were joined by friends and family members who knew Ryan as well.
Donations are being accepted through October! https://www2.heart.org/…/HeartWalk/MWA-MidWestAffiliate…
