Thursday evening marked the start of a brand new informational session partially hosted by The Starr Group. Nick Starr, Personal Insurance Counselor, teamed up with Julie Ellenbecker Lipsky, Jim MacCudden, and Amy Krieghoff to present Things to Consider When Buying Your First Home. The seminar took place at the Ellenbecker Investment Group Education Center in Pewaukee, WI.

This was The Starr Group’s first ever home buying seminar! Nick’s discussion focused on the importance of establishing a sound risk management plan for homeowners insurance. He provided professional insight into what things need to be considered when insuring your new home. Nick also discussed how to find competitive pricing and adequate coverage.

A Safety Manual or a Safety Program?

There is a difference between a company safety manual and a safety program. It’s not too unusual for these to be considered one in the same. They are not typically the same by definition or as it may exist in your organization. A fair percentage of people, safety specialists and others, may refer to a safety program or even recommend one, and offer a manual or vice versa.

You might be banking on your safety manual as accommodating your safety program. What’s the difference?

Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) choices delayed

The Obama administration is delaying parts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that would have offered a choice of plans on the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) beginning in January 2014.

The New York Times reports the administration said that the government and insurers needed “additional time to prepare for an employee choice model” of the type envisioned in the law signed three years ago by President Obama.
