Water Damage
Do you have the proper coverage should water find its way into your home?
There are two types of policies to help protect you from water damage.
Water Backup/Sump Pump Failure is available from most homeowner carriers. This coverage is not automatic with your homeowner’s policy; it must be purchased by endorsement and is available in various dollar increments. This endorsement includes a standard deductible of a $1,000 and has a 30 day waiting period.
Flood Insurance may also help protect you. Flood is a general and temporary condition where two or more acres of normally dry land or properties are inundated by water. Flooding is one of the most common hazards in the United States and can be very localized, impacting a single neighborhood or even an entire community. To dispel an old myth, Flood Insurance is available to everyone and you do not need to live in a flood zone to qualify. There is a 30 day waiting period from the time the insurance policy is purchased to when coverage actually goes into effect.
The Starr Group highly recommends both types of coverage. Should you have any questions or would like to hear more about these two coverages – what is considered covered and what is excluded, please contact us. We would be glad to help you understand what you have versus what you need.
