Finished or Unfinished Basement:

The common question that arises when someone finishes their basement is “Do I have the proper coverage?”  If damage is caused by water backing up thru the drains or a sump failing, there is an exclusion. Coverage is provided when you purchase the “Water Backup/Sump Pump Failure” endorsement.

Many companies limit this coverage to the mechanicals of the basement and may not necessarily include the contents. In addition, they may depreciate the actual loss as opposed to providing replacement cost.  At The Starr Group, our companies provide very high limits, they don’t depreciate the loss and they don’t limit coverage to just the mechanicals.
